Jenkins Hall
GMC officials gathered Wednesday to celebrate the completion of extensive renovations done to Jenkins Hall, which will house the prep school’s recently added third, fourth, and fifth grades starting Nov. 4. GMC Prep utilized the building up until 2010 when Usery Hall was completed, but the addition of the upper elementary grades caused the need for more space. The cost of bringing Jenkins Hall, which opened in 1926 as City Elementary School before being purchased by GMC, up to date was around $5 million according to GMC VP for engineering Jeff Gray. The project was paid for with state funding, and GMC also worked with Georgia’s Historic Preservation Division in doing the work on the historic building.
